HistoryThe White Horse Trading Company began with one man's passion for English ales, and the music of Pink Floyd. The tavern, originally called The Black Horse, began in San Francisco, California in the 1990’s. Joe Gilmartin, the owner, moved the entire shop up to Seattle, Washington in 2004, where it has been renamed the White Horse Trading Company; a collectable book store with a tavern atmosphere. Located in Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market, and quietly tucked away in Post Alley... (also known as drinkers alley). "Treat this place like it's your living room, and we'll keep it clean and stocked with good ale & wine." the only request the owner asks of his patrons. The White Horse is set up with eight stools at the bar, and comfy sofas around the room, and placed favorably for a good conversation. This small bookstore / tavern is the only one of its kind in the city of Seattle; a place where you can clearly listen to the person sitting next to you and end up having a conversation with the locals and regulars throughout the entire bar. The White Horse resonates old English memorabilia, and equestrian memorabilia; a montage of over the years of operation. Please feel free to drop in this evening for a visit. We would love to have you here. |
